Humble Cabin in Sequoia Park with crazy stars

Property Detail

  • Cabin
  • Bedrooms (1)
  • Sleeps (6)
  • Baths (1)
  • Minimum Stay (4)

At the gate of wilderness, the cabin affords a nice view of Sequoia's hallmark Moro Rock, and is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, and small families with young children. Simple and convenient accommodations do not spoil the spirit of Nature, yet provide all the necessities for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

The cabin is located inside the park, just a couple minutes' drive from the South entrance. It is part of a small subdivision of about less than a dozen houses, mostly private vacation properties and family residences. The feel is more local than touristy; buildings are well spaced apart along the mountainside so as not to spoil the view. The cabin living/dining room windows offer stunning views of the surrounding mountain range.

The best swimming spot on Kaweah River is just a few minutes' walk away. A 30 minute drive brings you to the high mountain sierra Sequoia Grove. Crystal Cave and Mineral King are also within driving distance.

The cabin features a full kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, cooking utensils and dining ware, and an outdoor barbecue area with grill, garden dining table and chairs.

The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. The upstairs loft can sleep up to three children or two adults. The living room futon transforms into a bed for extra sleeping space.

Overall, this property was a great value. Although it's inside Sequoia NP, the bigger attractions we wanted to see (Moro Rock, General Sherman, Tunnel Log, etc.) were about an hour away, so if your main draw is to see as much as you can inside the park, you may want to opt for accommodations that are closer. We loved that there was access to Kaweah River just a short drive away (totally walkable). Since the weekend we went was blazing hot, we found the AC to be a lifesaver. The only real con was that a few things appeared to need replacing due to normal wear and tear, but nothing that I would consider a deal breaker. Also, after reading a number of reviews mentioning rodent droppings, I was a bit anxious that it wouldn't be clean, but we didn't see any signs of rodents and the place was clean. There is no WiFi despite the listing stating there is, but being unplugged/off the grid made the trip a little more enjoyable.

This cabin was great, it was clean, A/C was really cold which was great coming in from the heat. Best part was being inside the park and we didn’t have to wait in the long lines to get inside to start our days. Great views and very peaceful.

This was a quiet place in a beautiful national park. Our grandkids loved the loft and we enjoyed our time. There were a few things that need replacement in the cabin like the blinds but overall we enjoyed our time there. Outside trash bins were not available to deposit trash at the end of our stay.

A/C was great for the heat. The children had fun in the loft. The bedroom had a stinky smell, maybe the comforters need a good washing. It was a great location for a wilderness experience.

Great place inside Sequoia National Park. No service for awesome quiet. Stars attribute to the ambiance. All you need to bring is food and your loved ones.

Perfect for a family with young children. The loft was a great hideaway for the kids while dinner was being prepared. Having a loft was better than having a 2nd bedroom because the kids weren't confined to four walls when they would retreat upstairs, and still be involved in conversation because the loft peered down over the living space.

The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with supplies for cooking, prepping and cleaning. There was a folder loaded with information of nearby attractions and restaurants which was very helpful, although calling would be difficult because I did not have reception. There was a good selection of Board games and movies available which we didn't use because we had brought our own favorites.

The cabin was small but we were out all day and only back for dinner and bedtime, so it was perfect for us.

We spotted deer right on the side of the cabin and the night sky was remarkable.

The location was superb, nestled away within the national park so we had access to all the trails and snow play (on New Years).

Our family loved this cabin for a quick getaway from the city and plan on coming back.

This place is in a great location and would be a great place to stay if not for the smell. When we walked in we were hit with a very toxic smell (to me it smelled like Raid/insect killer). The bedroom seemed to be the worse place for the smell and even after we aired it out, it was so bad that we could not sleep in there so we had to sleep in the loft. Great location in the park and other than the smell it was a nice little place. If they take care of that issue it would be fine. It could use some simple fixes (no shower nob, no door jobs, etc).

We enjoyed our stay for two nights. The location is inside the southern entrance to sequoia. Great place for hikes in the Foothills and mineral King area. The entrance drive to the cabin is a little challenging, steep and winding. Views from porch beautiful and quite. No cell phone service for Verizon and no wifi. Overall nice place for a couple of nights.

Loved the convenience of the place inside the park. Place is outdated and not in the cleanest condition. Just like a previous review said, their is a bad mice problem. We could hear them all night. My husband finally got up and saw a mouse hiding in the stove. Their was mice droppings all over the house. You would think they’d have it well kept since the park is nice and clean and kept up with. Some updating would really help. After a long day hiking You want to get a good nights rest but those beds were truly uncomfortable. This tiny home has great potential but for now I wouldn’t recommend it.
